Conference FAQs

What is the purpose of the conference?

The purpose of the conference is to provide the opportunity for an in-depth discussion of different medical career paths, provide organized access to resources aiding in the pursuit of medical careers, and to foster connections between medical professionals and students interested in pursuing a medical career.

Why should I participate in this conference?

Participating in SPAPP’s “Lives in Medicine” conference will prepare students for their prospective medical careers. There is always something you can learn from our workshops, keynote speakers, resource fair, or from other participants. This is a great opportunity to network and meet people with similar interests and backgrounds who can help you later during your medical career. SPAPP is the only conference in Chicago specifically oriented towards fostering connections between students and medical professionals for students of Polish heritage.

Who can apply to participate?

Our conference is aimed towards high school and university students with a strong interest in entering the medical profession. We also welcome current medical students and professionals in the field to help facilitate our discussion and provide insight into the specifics of their medical career. Polish ancestry and proficiency in the language are not prerequisites for participation in the conference, and anyone with passion and interest for the medical field is warmly welcome to join in on our conversation.

How do I apply to attend the conference?

Our application for the 2018 conference is now live. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Please email us if you have any questions or need help.

What if I'm not Polish? Can I still attend?

Of course! While some of our conference themes are relevant to Polish heritage, we eagerly welcome all individuals interested in pursuing careers in medicine.

Sponsorship FAQs

How do I become a sponsor?

By becoming a sponsor, you are helping bright students who are interested in medical careers achieve their goals. Additionally, you will be identified as a sponsor and an advertisement will be displayed in our program. If you would like to become a sponsor, please email us at SPAPPconference@gmail.com.

Besides monetary sponsorship, how else can I help?

There are several ways you can help out. We need volunteers to assist with setting up the conference and ensuring that everything runs smoothly. Additionally, we are seeking vendors willing to donate food or offer it at a discounted price.
